Guests can easily order room service via Amazon Alexa by voice.

New to the ITB in Berlin: "Alexa, what is there to eat?". roompad has developed a special Amazon Alexa Skill for hotels. The guest no longer has to type an order on the Tablet, but more simply by voice control. This is made possible by Amazon's cloud-based language service called Alexa, which is controlled via Amazon Echo.

The control by language is particularly simple and comfortable. roompad will be presenting its newly developed roompad Alexa Skill from 8 to 11 March at the ITB in Berlin. Marc Frauenholz, CEO of roompad GmbH, says "Voice control and artificial intelligence are the next steps to the digital hotel of the future. With the language service in the room the guest can communicate without detours. This is much more natural for the guest, even if it is a virtual dialogue partner".

Reserve a table in the restaurant, order the room service, ask hotel information or give a feedback – all this is done by the roompad Skill for Amazon Alexa, without any problems. The control of the room lighting, temperature, the curtains or the TV by voice command also offers a completely new way for the guest – easy to use hotel services, room technology and entertainment. The roompad skill is available in English and German.

Currently Alexa is already working on advanced features and roompad will bring the skills to the National and International Hotel Industry.

According to Bitkom. Four out of Ten German citizens can imagine using such stationary language services. According to the analysis company Gartner, by 2020, 3.3 percent of the world's households will have a loudspeaker with an integrated virtual assistant. These figures show that the guest will be accustomed to using voice services in the future and this offers the digital-oriented hotel industry a fantastic opportunity to offer their guests an interactive service.
